I'm in an experimental mood and thought I'd try building a modern bellows system! Will it work? Let's find out! Also, head to squarespace.com/diyperks to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using offer code PERKS
I hope you guys enjoyed this crazy build! It's been a wild journey trying to get this video released - firstly with the delays caused by the ideas that didn't work, and then ultimately by a HARD DRIVE FAILURE! Literally ALL the footage in this video was lost, and it was only thanks to some great data recovery fellows that you're seeing this at all. Backup system implemented now, fyi ;) because of these delays, this is actually quite an old video now (like 1 year) but I'm glad it's able to see the light of day as I think the final result is SUPER COOL! In hind sight I may not have started this project of perseverance, but it taught me such a lot in terms of which projects to make to show you guys and how experimental I can ultimately risk being. I know that basically none of you will make this, but the methodology ultimately settled upon is interesting and might have many more use cases. Either way it makes for interesting watching, so I hope you all enjoy it! ~Matt

A: Just needed to make it large so that it moves enough air to be useful. Ask away if you have any more questions :)

Big fan here, I love your video's, such inspiration they bring. but oh! I had an q; Would changing out the bearing gliders for your magflui system not up the potential power output and/or reduce noise ? My compliments to your out of the (air-) box thinking and switching from rail to fluid; only great minds can outthink themselves. Ly

You are not only brilliant. but adorable all around. I love watching your mind at play, seeing the awesome inventions/upcycles/repurposing projects and ideas you have come up with to tackle on your channel. These items are amazingly always useful and helpful - or just plain ol' brilliant and beautiful things to have around the house~! For example, I'd rather have THIS fan than 20 boring box fans! Right now I am working on the DIY home security system and the really loud remote control wireless Bluetooth speakers that you took outside and walked super far away from and they were still were superbly loud and clear - outside in an open area no less... I can't wait until I get them done! Those speakers will come in handy for my work as well as my pleasure. :D just one more thing, not to swell your head up too big - but you have an awesome way of communicating each step so that even to someone like me with very little carpentry/electrical/handiwork experience feels like I can take on these projects and have success! Your steps are covered very clearly, and you invoke an inspiration and a confidence that not only makes me want to run out there and buy up all the parts in the parts stores, but gives me the confidence to know that I can actually make use of those parts and build amazingly successful projects as long as I simply just follow what you do and say! Thanks for the way you teach it's a very rare skill. :D Thanks so much for the videos.

Double the output by building a redirect for the bellows "pull" direction. It might need to be on a separate output, but it should outdo the fans.

He could easy double the air flow with a one way vaule on each end to bring air into the system and a vent on each side for air to come out. Instead of it just coming out the one side

It would be interested to see a CPU heat sink built like jail bars where the air transfers thru the bellows output. However, I think a CPU application is the wrong application as we already have water cooling for CPUs. Maybe something like this would be better utilized transferring air through the coils of an AC unit to cool a home. Yes the bellow may have to be the size of a closet, but with enough magnets and pumps it may use less energy than the fans.

Linear motors use induction and capacitance. Why? Because they shift the voltage behavior of the AC waveform. With less components you should get more power.

even if the bellows moved 2x the fans aur it would NOT win... the size needed alone makes it beyond impractical in most cases and cost factor /facepalm added noise reduction top/bottom rods should be magnet not bearing and if you make them water as well you should be able to increase the cfm as well w/o more noise unless it is induced port noise etc

Actually, it performs as 8 fans, you inly measured the one exit not the two (the one on the opposite side) which makes it 50% efficient, meaning that if 4 fans are the same as half of the power of that machine it makes it 2 fans less powerful than the actual 50% of the machine. Which means to get the full power output that this thing makes you need 8 fans
